Crawler
LanesraBot
The crawler Lanesra uses to read websites on behalf of its customers. If you found this address in your server logs, this page explains what it was doing.
User-Agent
Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; LanesraBot/1.0; +https://lanesra.ai/bot)What it reads, and why
Lanesra measures how brands appear in the answers of AI engines such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity. To do that, LanesraBot reads the public pages of a customer's own website, the pages those AI answers cite, and the robots.txt, sitemap and llms.txt files that tell AI crawlers what they may read.
It reads pages the way a visitor's browser would ask for them. It does not run scripts, log in, fill in forms or submit anything.
It reads on our customers' behalf
Every request is made because a Lanesra customer asked a question about their own site or about the pages AI engines cite in answers about them. LanesraBot does not crawl the web at large, build a search index or collect pages to train AI models.
How to recognise it
Each request names LanesraBot and this page in its User-Agent, shown below. Requests to one site go one at a time, at least half a second apart, and the same address is fetched once per job.
To let LanesraBot through your firewall or CDN's bot protection, allow requests whose User-Agent contains LanesraBot. Its requests do not come from a fixed set of IP addresses yet.
